Nuestros Derechos means something like ‘Our rights’ in Spanish. Recently the three-piece has been real busy as the cd comes in an exclusive hand-numbered copy. Luckily for them they decided to release only 500 copies of it so the amount of work isn’t that much.

Hailing from the Netherlands and to be more precise the city of Utrecht. The two man and one lady deliver us some nicely done crossover with some strong references from the eighties thrash American style. Of course there are tons of things that could be better but i’m not sure if i want that since listening to “Adrift” is simply sheer fun. It’s straight forward with a lot of punk attitude and some cool thrash riffs. “Adrift” opens up with “Under the Surface” which basically gives the first impression and it’s a good one, you know right from the start of it what can be expected from the rest of the album. And that’s energetic played crossover with a strong and remarkable bass.

Jerry delivers a good job with his vocals, an sort of screaming punk growls which fit the energetic music just fine. And surprisingly also Janet does some of the vocals on the album. She can be heard for the first time in “Soil to Embrace” and her vocal style is even more punk-ish with some screams whom seem to emerge from her toes, that intense they are. And Nuestros Derechos delivers some more surprises, there is an track with Dutch lyrics, “Bockereyders”, and Janet and Jerry doing both the vocal duties. And were not done with the surprises, the track “Koyaanisqatsi” falls a bit out of place as it’s a instrumental track with only cello. It’s nicely done by guest musician Anna Offermans but it has no references with the other tracks whatsoever. But i guess it’s the attitude of Nuestros Derechos, the attitude that says ‘it’s our album and we do whatever the fuck we want’.

“Adrift” is a very welcome effort in todays scene due to it’s raw and honest music. You can get the cd or downloads at their website. Support this band cause i want to hear more from them in the future.
