Desert Sin’s roots reach back to 2008 were the Austrian five-piece power metallers decided it was time to take things further but before that they were know under the moniker Sick-U-R. Some collectors may already be familiar with Desert Sin as they brought out their debut album “The Edge Of Horizon” back in 2009 also under the flag of Pure Steel Records. And now the bands let’s us meet their sophomore effort “Destination Paradise”.
For me it’s the first time i hear anything from these guys. Hailing from the worldwide known skiing vacation place Tyrol they produce some pretty heavy but yet melodic power metal. With over 46 minutes of playing time “Destination Paradise” will guaranteed rock your socks off. Fronted by vocalist and guitarist Sandro Holzer whom has a nice voice which can be a little bit compared to Tom Owens when he’s not screaming his lunges out. Sandro has an powerfull voice but uses it mostly in a modest way. No over the top screaming or ridiculous and annoying high singing here, his voice is just pleasant to listen to and it’s contributes to the overall sound.
With great bass and pounding drums throughout the album and filled with traditional power metal tempo changes combined with excellent keyboard lines who are there solely for enriching the sound and not to take the lead. Great guitars who produces a balanced rhythm line or some noticeable solo’s. And a superb production makes “”Destination Paradise” an album worth listening to.
